Marcos Freeman was born in 1971 in Cadiz, Spain. His father was in the United States Navy and in 1976 he moved to the United States. For 9 years, their family relocated every 3 years. He’s been in Hampton Roads Virginia since 1985. When Marcos was 18, he moved away from home and worked in the home improvement retail industry for 7 years. While working in contractor sales at Home Quarters Warehouse, he realized he wanted to pursue a career in structural engineering. In 1996, Marcos enrolled at Tidewater Community College and began taking courses toward a degree in Civil Engineering. He transferred to Virginia Polytechnic and State University in August of 1998 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in June of 2001. In May of 2002, he received his Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Marcos has been working as a structural engineer since 2002. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and is currently a partner and Vice President for McPherson Design Group, a structural engineering consulting firm in Norfolk, Virginia. Marcos currently lives in Suffolk and enjoys surfing, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his family. He has a strong interest in self-awareness and has been studying eastern philosophy for the last few years.
