Ecomusicology
Upper School students took notes of their findings
Upper School music students practiced ecomusicology, noticing the relationship between music and sounds in nature. When we take the time to listen intently to the natural world around us, we can hear the music that nature creates.
Right outside of CBA, students noticed the sounds of late summer: the hum of cicadas, a gentle breeze through trees, the slight din of mosquitoes buzzing, leaves crunching underfoot, and the chatter of squirrels. We also noticed the rhythm of the cicada choir; their voices would soar with a crescendo, and then fall silent.
Students took notes of their findings as they walked around the CBA campus. Take time this weekend to listen to the sounds of nature around you!
