Middle school students took a field trip to the Virginia Air & Space Science Center in Hampton!
Students participated in a learning lab focused on the Apollo 12 mission and the capsule that returned to earth. They designed their own capsules and parachutes to protect their “eggstranaut”, a raw egg. After creating their capsules, they tested their designs by dropping their egg from the third floor of the building! Students found that the slower their creation fell to the ground, the better chance their passenger had at survival.
The students went on to explore the exhibits and learn about space and air crafts. They ended their outing in the IMAX theater watching a documentary about bears.
Sounds like a super fun day, middle school!
