  • Music in Our Schools Performance

Our 2023 Music in Our Schools celebration was a hit!

To start, literature teacher Mr. Lofton wowed the audience with a riveting performance of his original poem, “What’s Going On?” while the talented guest percussionist Gregory F. Lee played along on the djembe. The A Cappella Club sang “Akatonbo”, a beautiful Japanese piece, Patricia Lausier and Evan McClure collaborated together to perform “Für Elise”, and Watts Jetton rocked out on the drum set to “It’s My Life” by Bon Jovi.

Cooper Klein sang a beautiful arrangement of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” while also playing the piano accompaniment and Spencer Bates got the audience to sing along while he played “Something in the Way” by Nirvana on his electric bass. The audience continued to join in the singing, as Benny Adams and Lena Decker led everyone in the classic Beatles song, “Eleanor Rigby”.

Lili Hulett and Evelyn Simpson sang “Desert Song” and Octavio Ortiz got the audience singing again with his rousing performance of “Top of the World” on the piano. The celebration continued with an impressive version of “Rush E” on the piano played by Isaiah Reed. To close out the show Gabby Ward astounded us with her strong solo of “Beauty and the Beast”.

All the musicians came alive on that stage, and the CBA community loved every minute of it. Special thank you to music teacher Ms. Destiny Kooiman for orchestrating the event!
