CBA and the Hampton Roads Community Foundation: Supporting High-Dosage Tutoring for All
Over the years CBA and the HRCF have partnered on many projects that support neurodiverse learners. With CBA’s expertise in serving students with learning differences well established, HRCF is now empowering CBA to offer that expertise to families outside of the CBA community. CBA was recently awarded a $30,000 grant to provide online, high-dosage, tutoring after-school to local middle school students with unique learning needs from across Hampton Roads .
Research around high-dosage tutoring, that is, tutoring delivered 2-3 times weekly to small groups of 3-4 students, has proven it to be highly effective in remediating learning difficulties. Beginning in spring 2026, licensed teachers from CBA’s online program, CadetNet Virtual Academy, will provide after-school tutoring to students from public and private schools from across the region at no charge. Instruction will utilize evidence-based strategies paired with desktop VR. Participants will be referred to the program by schools and professionals from related-fields. “Research suggests that technology-based environments heighten the confidence of students with learning differences. Engaging students to meet their academic and social-emotional needs is at the heart of CBA’s mission. Thanks to the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, CBA can now spread that mission outside the walls of our campus and across the region.”
– Dr. Judy Jankowski, Head of School
