  • Securing Our Future Through Endowment

MaryAnne Dukas

In 2015, CBA took a major step forward for our small school by establishing an investment fund. The creation of that fund was pivotal to achieving our strategic goal of financial sustainability. Within that fund was the seed of an endowment, first planted by the board of trustees in honor of the service of MaryAnne Dukas to mark her retirement.

Lou and Mary Haddad

The goal of building upon that endowment, while ever-present, remained in the back ground for several years as we worked to establish a firm financial foundation for our school. Then in 2019, long-time board member Mary Haddad and her husband Lou, set off on a course to lead the effort and establish a true endowment.

Last year, through the tremendous generosity of the Perry Family Foundation, CBA was the recipient of a gift of $1 million dollars to establish an endowment in support of the Paige Perry Endowed Scholarship Fund. Paige has given so much of herself to CBA over the past two decades, first being an employee of the school for 13 years and now through her service on the board. During that time, Paige has been a champion of our students and a supporter in every way. The fund was created as a surprise for Paige by her family, as they know how close she holds CBA to her heart.

Suzette Rashkind†

This year, CBA’s Endowment Fund received another generous donation in the form of a bequest from Suzette Rashkind as part of her participation in CBA Planned Giving Society. As a founding family member and staunch supporter of CBA, Suzette’s laughter, spirit and warmth will truly be missed.

We are so grateful to all of CBA’s generous benefactors for this recognition of CBA as a vital resource to the Hampton Roads community. These gifts will be the first of many to the endowment and will serve to ensure the financial health and well-being of CBA for decades to come.
