Decoding and Comprehension Focus. This intensive course is designed for students struggling with decoding and/or comprehension. Intensive reading programs include a blend of whole group, small group, and individual instruction. Using manipulatives, memory strategies and language-based instruction to reinforce concepts, students have fun as they learn. Faculty will use a combination of Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, and NILD-based reading strategies to address individual learning needs. Afternoons feature recreational activities and a variety of arts and crafts to support a well-rounded camp experience! Groupings based on ability level.

Progress reports will be provided after week 3. At the end of the program, parents have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with faculty to go over test results, progress made, and recommendations for next school year.

“My daughter really enjoyed her time at CBA this summer. The program challenged her and required her to work hard, but that challenge was incredibly beneficial and helped give her a stronger foundation as she continues her reading journey. I know reading may not always come easily for her, but I feel confident that the instruction she received will help prepare her for the coming school year.

I especially appreciated the final assessment and report. The STAR assessment provided valuable insight into Emilia’s abilities, and the results and instructional recommendations were presented in a clear, easy-to-understand way. Having those recommendations to share with her teachers and reading tutor this fall will be extremely helpful.

Best of all, Emilia has already decided she wants to come back next summer! We’re so grateful she had the opportunity to participate in such an excellent program.”

“This was my son’s first longer experience at CBA, and he loved it so much. He came home happy, using new coping skills, and overall a calmer kid.”
