Lower School Travels Back in Time: Colonial Williamsburg
Last week, Mrs. Edwards’ lower schoolers stepped back in time through the 1700s Colonial Williamsburg Trades Project. Each student chose a colonial trade to explore and took on the role of an apprentice, journeyman, or master craftsman. They worked hard to create costumes, signs, and displays to represent their trades, transforming their classroom into a vibrant snapshot of colonial America.
The project culminated in engaging presentations where students performed “in character,” describing a day in the life of their trade, explaining tools of the time, and sharing how their work supported the economy of early America. Parents assisted with costume-making and research, and the students impressed their peers and teachers with their creativity, preparation, and enthusiasm.
“This class is full of creativity, and it showed in how each child embraced this learning opportunity.” – Mrs. Edwards
What a wonderful way to wrap up the year!
