Our Community of Learners: CBA & VWU
The growing partnership between Chesapeake Bay Academy (CBA) and Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU) was on full display this week as students from the VWU College of Education visited our campus. Dr. Mindy Gumpert—VWU Adjunct Professor, CBA Board Member, and co-chair of the Education & Research Committee—brought undergraduate students from her course, Foundations/Legal Issues in Special Education, for an immersive tour and learning experience.
Dr. J welcomed the group and guided their visit, while CBA faculty and students engaged with our guests, offering firsthand insights into what makes our school such a distinctive and supportive learning environment.
This semester, CBA is also proud to host two social work interns and a school psychology intern from VWU, further deepening the connection between our institutions and strengthening our shared commitment to preparing future educators and specialists.
“The vision is, first, that the school will be a community, a place full of adults and students who care about, look after, and root for one another and who work together for the good of the whole… the defining, underlying culture of this community is learning.” — Dr. Roland Barth, Harvard University (2002)
CBA and VWU continue to embody this vision—building a community where learning is collaborative, relationships are meaningful, and everyone works together toward the success of all learners.
