One-on-One Support to Improve Cognitive Skills in Reading & Math

Academic Therapy utilizes a research-based approach to improving academic skills and overall cognitive functioning for students with information and processing challenges. Utilizing a multisensory approach to reading, students become more effective learners. An academic therapist is certified by the Academic Language Therapy Association, holds a minimum of a master’s degree, and completes extensive training in phonology, decoding, spelling, and comprehension to design instruction differentiated for each child’s needs.

Multisensory math is based on the Orton-Gillingham philosophy of direct instruction. Using the Concrete-Representation-Abstract (CRA) approach and hands-on techniques, students will receive instruction at their current academic level  in numeracy, place value, the four operations, fractions and decimals.

Individual sessions will be provided by Dr. Christine Hebert, Certified Reading Specialist and Academic Therapist. Dr. Hebert holds master’s degrees in Special Education and Administration, and a Ph.D. in Literacy Leadership.
