Lower and Middle School are Together in the “Spotlight”
Mrs. Edwards & Ms. Ward
Ms. Ward’s middle school outdoor education and creative writing class partnered with Mrs. Edward’s fourth graders to complete an outdoor interest survey. Middle schoolers interviewed the fourth graders on their knowledge, likes, and dislikes of the outdoors and the results were then graphed for lower school students to see.
Once the interviewing was finished, students were partnered up to read a “spotlight” book together. Spotlight books are interactive picture books with a science focus and a fun surprise! The middle school student read a picture book to their lower school student and together they discussed the content to try and guess what the image would be in a blank spotlight area of the page. Finally, a flashlight illuminated the book and the image appeared – SURPRISE!
