CBA is pleased to offer several extracurricular offerings this Winter! In addition to our ever-popular CodeNinjas and Chess Club, we are adding Yoga, Young Authors Club, Basketball and Paddle Play to the mix! All activities are co-ed and open to all skill levels – no experience necessary!
CodeNinjas: Minecraft Coding Club
Using Minecraft Education, participants will learn how to code various activities in a variety of different subjects including AI, cybersecurity, and more. In addition, through the use of MCreator, students will learn how to design their own modifications for Minecraft, like creating their own tools, and environments.Â
Grades: 5-12 (co-ed)

Yoga
Join Jodi Holland, 500 RYT and founder of the Ohana Festival, for gentle movement, stretching, breath work, and guided meditation! Participants find their inner zen while having fun! Yoga mats provided.
Grades: 1-5 (co-ed)

Art Club
Led by middle school director and accomplished artist and author Ms. Suciu, participants will explore different techniques and themes in painting while building creative confidence, technical skills, and a personal art portfolio. Each week students will begin with a quick stretch or color play followed by a demo of a technique. They will then have the opportunity to explore the new technique through guided independent work and wrap up with a “show and tell” to the class.

Chess Club
CBA is pleased to continue our partnership with Hampton Roads Chess Association (HRCA) to offer chess club this Winter. Coach Mike will teach game fundamentals, skills and strategy following the organization’s mission in bringing the life benefits of chess to people of all ages and abilities throughout our region.
Grades: 5-12 (co-ed)

Wednesdays: 3:30 – 4:30 pm

Basketball Club
Coach George, high school coach and CBA’s PE teacher, will lead participants as they work on fundamental basketball skills including dribbling, shooting, passing, footwork, and defense drills. Small sides games will build their basketball knowledge and ensure plenty of court time!

Thursdays: 3:15 – 4:15 pm

Dress: Movable clothing and appropriate footwear required.
Paddle Play
Grab a paddle and get ready for fun! Thanks to our ongoing partnership with Overtime Athletics, participants will learn and play pickleball, badminton, and tennis through exciting games and challenges. We’ll practice serving, rallying, and teamwork,  all while having a blast on the court!
Grades: 1-5 (co-ed)

Young Authors Club
Each week, the Ms. Dani Kuntz will take participants on a literary exploration featuring mystery, fantasy, biography, and adventure genres. Following the reading journey, participants will have the opportunity to create and share their own piece of writing with the group!
