A Strong Beginning—and the Year Ahead

Dear CBA Community,

There is something special about the moment a school comes fully back to life. After weeks of thoughtful preparation by our faculty and staff, CBA’s halls and classrooms are once again filled with the energy, individuality, and promise of our students.

And what a wonderful first week it has been.

During our opening orientation, I invited returning students and families to reflect on what CBA has meant to them. Although their experiences varied, their responses shared a powerful theme: CBA is a place where students experience learning designed with them in mind—learning that recognizes their individual profiles, actively engages them, and creates meaningful opportunities for success.

I also asked our new families what they hoped to find as they joined our community. They spoke of wanting a school that would understand how their children learn, help them reengage with school, rebuild their confidence and curiosity, and perhaps rediscover—or experience for the first time—a genuine love of learning.

Together, these reflections capture both the promise and the responsibility of our work. Personalized, engaged learning is not simply an aspiration at CBA. It is an experience our returning families value and an expectation our newest families trust us to fulfill.

Relationships are foundational to that work. Before students arrived, our faculty and staff spent time exploring what it means to serve students through a personalized approach, how each of us contributes to the experience of every student and family, and how we can continue growing as a learning organization. We remain committed to reflecting on our practices and evolving in service of our students.

Throughout this first week, I have also watched another defining quality of CBA come to life: the warmth of our community. Faculty and staff greeted students and families as they arrived. Returning students reconnected with friends and teachers. New students began forming relationships and finding their place. The sense of welcome that has long distinguished CBA was evident at every turn.

As we look beyond the opening days, we know that a school year is not built in a single week. It is built through thousands of interactions, decisions, relationships, and moments of learning. The year ahead will bring excitement, questions, adjustments, and opportunities for growth. We will remain curious, communicate openly, learn from our experiences, and continue refining our work together.

Most importantly, our students are here. Their presence brings our mission to life each day and gives purpose to all that we do.

I am deeply grateful to our faculty and staff for the care they invested in this opening, to our families for the trust they place in us, and to our students for the possibility and joy they bring through our doors.

We have begun this year with warmth, purpose, and a shared commitment to continual growth. Now, together, we will build on that strong beginning and ensure that each student experiences a school designed to help them learn, belong, and thrive.
