Art in the Community: MacArthur Mall Murals

As the school year comes to a close, CBA Art students and families were invited to participate in a Spring Community Art Challenge by visiting the murals at MacArthur Mall and completing an accompanying scavenger hunt.

Several years ago, world-renowned muralist Kelsey Montague brought her What Lifts You  mural initiative to the 757, creating vibrant murals inside MacArthur Center. With the mall set to be demolished this summer, these murals (and many others) will soon disappear, as well. The hunt offered a unique opportunity to understand the impermanence of public art and the importance of experiencing the work while it is alive and vibrant. This visit supported our ongoing effort to encourage community art engagement and highlight the positive impact of creativity in public spaces.
