Mr. Rashkind is an alumni parent and founding trustee who has served many roles at Chesapeake Bay Academy. He was the board chair from 2002-2008, and still serves on the executive and advancement committees, and the committee on trustees. He and his wife Suzette served as co-chairs of the CBA 3.0 Capital Campaign and Alan served as a cabinet member on the Transformation Capital Campaign. Mr. Rashkind is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College and the University of Virginia School of Law, and has been practicing law since 1972. He is the senior member of the Norfolk law firm, Furniss, Davis, Rashkind and Saunders, P.C., where he now spends much of his time serving as a mediator and arbitrator for other lawyers; he also still specializes in defense of civil litigation and insurance coverage matters, including personal injury, lawyer’s malpractice, and municipal and federal civil rights cases. Alan served as an adjunct professor at William and Mary Law School from 2003-2013; co-authored the leading Virginia text on insurance law; is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the Virginia Law Foundation, and the American Bar Association; and is a Trustee Emeritus and former Chair of the Board of Trustees at Randolph-Macon College.
