Mr. Thurmond is the alumni parent of Taylor who graduated in 2007. He joined the Board of Trustees in 2002 and has been the Development Committee’s Chair since 2005. Prior to the Development Committee, he served as Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee from 2004-2005. He is currently the President of William E. Wood & Associates Realtors, the number one real estate organization in Hampton Roads. His career with William E. Wood began as a sales associate almost 30 years ago. Mr. Thurmond’s many professional activities are matched by his civic activities. He is a member of Old Dominion University President’s Club and Cape Henry Rotary Club. He is Past Chairman of the following: Old Dominion University Capital Campaign, Old Dominion University Annual Fund (1995), Armed Forces Committee Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, and Past Director of Virginia Peninsula Economic Development.
