Lou Schager joined the Board in 2017, is currently Vice Chair, and has served on the Education & Research and Strategic Planning committees. Lou is the President of the national franchising Brand, Mosquito Joe, a Neighborly Company. He is responsible for over 170 Franchise Business Owners servicing 374 franchise locations in 39 states. Prior to Mosquito Joe, Lou served as Vice President of Strategy for Reinvent Hampton Roads to drive business development through economic cluster analysis as part of the Growth and Opportunity Virginia (GO Virginia) initiative in the Coastal Virginia area. In addition, he served for 27 years in the U.S. Navy where he flew F-14 and FA-18 aircraft, graduated from the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) and served as the Commanding Officer of an FA-18 squadron. His Navy career culminated in Virginia Beach, VA as the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Oceana. He completed the Hampton Roads CIVIC Leadership Institute course in 2015, is the Chairman of the Navy League of Hampton Roads, and serves on the Virginia Beach Military Economic Development Advisory Committee and the International Franchise Association’s VetFran Committee. Lou graduated with merit from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies at the Naval War College.
